Students of Islamic inheritance law find cases involving a paternal grandfather inheriting alongside siblings difficult, particularly when heirs entitled to prescribed shares are also present. This difficulty arises from the divergent opinions of the jurists among the Companions and subsequent scholars. Accordingly, this study examines the Companions’ disagreements on these cases and explains the reasons behind their differing views. It focuses on clarifying the majority approach to inheritance involving a paternal grandfather and siblings, as this is the approach applied in most Islamic courts. The study also presents two innovative methods that enable students of Islamic inheritance law to solve such cases with ease.
